Marina Niforos, MBA'99D

Former Managing Director, American Chamber of Commerce in France

Marina Niforos is an institutional economist and advisor to government and business leaders on institutional relations and public policy. With more than 20 years management experience in multicultural organizations across the public, private and academic spheres, she is an expert on economic competitiveness, trade and public policy reform and a frequent speaker at high level conferences. In addition, Marina is a widely recognized thought leader and published author on gender, leadership and women’s economic empowerment.

Marina is the founder of Logos Global Advisors, an advisory group that provides economic intelligence and insights to government and private sector decision-makers so they may take informed decisions in shifting political, regulatory and commercial conditions.

Most recently, Marina was the Managing Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in France, an independent business association of more than 500 American and French companies, many from the CAC40 and Fortune 500, where she promoted transatlantic trade and economic relations and developed a dynamic policy advocacy platform. Previously, Marina served as Executive Director for the Diversity and Leadership Center of Excellence at INSEAD, where she founded and developed the Center’s activities and served as the school’s ambassador to external stakeholders, including the World Economic Forum and the World Bank. Marina has held senior posts in the private sector working for the Pechiney Group, in corporate venturing and in corporate strategy functions.

Before coming to France, Marina served five years with the World Bank Group, managing the institutional relationship with country borrowers for several Latin American countries. She defined the country’s development strategy, oversaw its implementation across a country team of 25 sectoral experts and managed a 2USD billion project investment portfolio. As Country Officer for Colombia, Marina led the team that developed the first country assistance strategy the Bank defined with the full participation of civil society, now a standard process at the Bank.  In 1998, she received the World Bank Award for Excellence by President Wolfensohn for assisting borrowers with sovereign debt conversion in Colombia.

Marina Niforos serves on the Boards and advisory bodies of several organizations.  In March 2012, she was appointed Commissioner to the United States National Commission for UNESCO by the U.S. Secretary of State, a public diplomacy advisory Committee to the Department of State that supports worldwide humanitarian development and values. She is also co-founding member and a Board Director of the European Network for Women in Leadership (WiL), as well as a member of the Advisory Board of the French business school Novancia and a Fellow at the European Center for Law and the Economy of ESSEC Business School.

In 1999, Ms Niforos earned her MBA from INSEAD. She also holds a Masters in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and a Diploma in International Relations and European Studies from SAIS-The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Cornell University, with a B.A. with highest honors in Government and International Relations. Marina is fluent in Spanish, French, Greek and proficient in Italian.
